Conference Organisers

Briana Bowen attained a BA in Political Science from Utah State University before doing congressional and security-related work in Washington D.C. Her research at Oxford evaluates the securitisation of Russia’s Islamic minorities in state policy. She currently heads the Oxford University Strategic Studies Group and coxes the men’s rowing team.

Holding a Master’s degree in Anthropology from the University of Helsinki, Emma Rimpiläinen has worked for Finland’s Defence Ministry and the Finnish embassy in Moscow. Her in-region experience encompasses field research into radical nationalism in Crimea and work in the travel industry and PR fields. Her current research compares cross-border media narratives of refugees and IDPs from Donbass.

With a background in European Studies and IR, George Fforde’s research at St Antony’s centres around Russian engagement with European radical politics. A graduate of the University of Melbourne, George has lived and conducted academic work in Germany, Austria, Norway, Estonia, and Russia.
